Welcome to Your High School Creative Writing Classroom

Hello, I am a high school creative writing teacher, and this is my newsletter. I post lesson plans, units, writing prompts, and exercises designed to help students write vignettes, poetry, flash fiction, short fiction, and essays. We will also explore some metawrites and journal prompts, as well as dabbling in writing sprints, art and nature writing, and writing about the people, places, and things of your world.

I am a writer myself and have published three books about writing instruction for middle and high school writing teachers:

My favorite part of this newsletter is that it doesn’t require you to buy a book or go to a conference or participate in professional development in an auditorium with no A/C after school when you are worn plum out. This newsletter drops into your email box once or twice a week, and you can read at your leisure and use the next day in your creative writing classes.
